Spanskt möter svenskt – SEAT Leon STCC

SEAT Sverige och PWR Racing Team tillkännagav för drygt två veckor sedan en gemensam fyraårssatsning i STCC. Det har nu blivit dags att presentera den modell som teamet kommer att tävla med i jakten på segrar i Sveriges elitklass inom banracing.

Den nya bilen har getts namnet SEAT Leon STCC och är formgiven av SEAT:s designavdelning, som bollplank i processen har de haft SEAT Sport och teamets huvudpartner Combitech. Drygt 10 designers och ingenjörer har varit inblandade i projektetet och när denna text publiceras har över 2500 timmar lagts på den nya tävlingsbilen, fördelat på SEAT:s huvudkontor i Barcelona och Combitechs utvecklingscenter i Trollhättan. Arbetet har bestått av allt från ren design till mekanisk konstruktion och aerodynamikberäkningar i datormiljö.

- I samband med ett event förra året där PWR Racing Team föreläste för Combitechs kunder här i Trollhättan föddes en gemensam idé om att lyfta vårt partnerskap ytterligare en nivå. När möjligheten att utveckla teamets nya kaross dök upp var beslutet om vår inblandning lätt att ta. Det är med en stor portion av stolthet och ingenjörsglädje som vi tar del av teamets satsning med SEAT i STCC. Säger Ronnie Madsen, affärsområdeschef på Combitech i Trollhättan.

Tävlingsbilen som bär på design-DNA från SEAT Leon med sin tvådelade midjelinje och karaktäristiska varselljus har starka kopplingar till den nyligen uppdaterade SEAT Leon Cup Racer, en bil som körs internationellt både i TCR och SEAT:s enhetsserie SEAT Leon Eurocup.

- Att få med SEAT Sverige i STCC tillsammans med ett av de snabbast växande teamen känns enormt bra, en rejäl styrkeinjektion i svensk banracing. Bilens utseende gör knappast saken sämre. Hatten av till de som ritat denna racer! Säger Jonas Lundin, VD på STCC.

De första karossdelarna har precis lämnat Cliff Produktion & Modell i Trollhättan och monteras just nu i teamets verkstad i Vikmanshyttan, Dalarna. Under april månad får den nya SEAT-modellen för första gången sträcka ut ordentligt när STCC håller årets försäsongstester. PWR Racing Team kommer inom kort att presentera de förare som får äran att tävla med bilen på svenska banor under 2016.

SEAT Sweden and PWR Racing Team announced just over two weeks ago a joint four-year STCC. It is now time to present the model that the team will compete in the race for victories in the Swedish elite class of racing.The new car has been named the SEAT Leon STCC and is designed by SEAT's Design Department, as a sounding board in the process, they have had and the SEAT Sport team's main partner Combitech. Over 10 designers and engineers have been involved in the project and when this text is published over 2500 hours has been put into the new race car, distributed on SEAT's headquarters in Barcelona and Combitech's development center in Trollhättan. The work has consisted of everything from pure design to mechanical design and aerodynamics calculations in the computing environment.

- In connection with an event last year where PWR Racing Team lectured for Combitech's customers here in Trollhättan was born a common idea to raise our partnership to the next level. When the opportunity to develop the team's new coach showed up was the decision of our involvement easy to take. The race car carrying the design DNA of the SEAT Leon with its two-part waistline and distinctive daytime running lights have strong links to the recently updated SEAT Leon Cup Racer, a car that runs internationally in both TCR and SEAT's unit serial SEAT Leon Eurocup.

The first body parts just left Cliff & Production Model in Trollhättan and assembled right now in the team's workshop in Vikmanshyttan, Dalarna. In April, the new SEAT model for the first time to stretch properly when the STCC hold this year's pre-season tests.
